Fringe and Boots [Days 7, 8, & 9]

So this weekend was a little busy and I slacked off on my daily blog but don't think I slacked off on changing my shoes. Oh no, I am more than 1/3 finished my shoe challenge and going strong! Especially after Sunday's DSW excursion.

So I will start there, Sunday I spent the afternoon shoe shopping with my mother in law. We had a lot of fun and I picked up 2 new pairs of shoes that I will be sure to wear once there is no longer snow/ice danger. So the shoes I wore to our shopping outing were a pair of moccasins that Daniel bought for me for my birthday {he took me shopping and I picked them out, it was a great trip and a rare occurrence because hubby doesn't enjoy the shopping like I do} I love the color gray of these shoes and how cute and tiny they make my feet look! They were purchased from Macy's and they were on sale!! Gotta love a great deal :)

Monday, Daniel and I were both off and we spent the day in NJ visiting my family which was a lot of fun. I wore these boots that I purchased from Target over the summer. I first wore them to a Miranda Lambert concert which was a mistake to break them in on such a long event. By the end of the night my poor feeties were crying out in pain. I wore them to my cousin's country wedding in September (the reason I bought them). They are more broken in now and definitely more comfortable.

Today, with snow in the forecast I knew I didn't want to wear flats to work. So I decided to wear my newest go to favorite pair of winter work shoes. I got them on sale for super cheap from Kohl's in November. They go so well with a lot of pants and you can't even tell that they are boots for the most part. However, I did bring my rain boots (which I use as snow boots) because I was quite positive that the weather people were not wrong about the impending doom the snow was bringing. And I am so glad I had my rain boots! Luckily we were let out of work early so I have been inside since 1 pm and so grateful!! Now just to wonder about what tomorrow will bring. Maybe my day 10 shoes will be slippers! (I've definitely jinxed it now...)

Days 5 & 6

Yesterday I wore a pair of flats that I bought after I started working at the bank and no longer wanted to wear the one pair of comfy sensible heels I had purchased just for the start of that job. So these flats were a Kohl's find, they were on clearance and I purchased them while I was at work (the internet is a bad tempting thing on the job). Once I broke them in they were much more comfortable. And is it me, or are heels sometimes more comfortable than certain flats? I have some flats that feel like knives cutting into my foot right below my big toe. I'm sure that's not good.

These flats go with most outfits but sometimes the gold buckles throw me off and I feel like they won't match. But I still love them!

Now onto today, I wore my uggs to work today which isn't necessarily allowed but I feel as though Saturdays are a bit more flexible with the dress code (at least I make it more flexible for me). I went through a stage where I thought uggs were ugly and dumb (but I still had knock off ones) and then I went through a stage where I had to have them and so that is how I became the owner of these frequently worn winter time boots. I bought these with my hard earned, saved up cash. I was so excited when I walked into Nordstrom (Ha! All my shoes aren't from Kohl's or Target) and picked out my Big Kid sized uggs (That's right I got the kids ones because their size 5 is the same as a woman's size 7 and they used to be waaay cheaper but I think Ugg has caught on because now they are still a little less expensive but not by near as much anymore).

My Ugg boots are my go to shoe in the winter time. They keep my feet so warm and snuggly. The only downside is I have the tendency of wearing them when it all of a sudden starts raining and I get worried that they will be ruined :( I wish they were waterproof (I put stuff on them to protect the suede but I still get nervous about it).

Day 4 - Purple

One of my favorite colors to wear is purple, I think it stems back to Almay makeup coming out with the eyeshadow colors for every eye color and purple was always in the brown eye palette. So now I'm convinced that purple brings out my eyes. Of course wearing purple on my feet isn't really gonna do that but oh well. I still like purple.

These flats are one of my newest pairs that I bought from Target on a whim (are you seeing a pattern here because to me it seems like all my shoes are either from Target or Kohl's...) They are a pretty plum shade that would have been perfect had I found them when I was looking for flats for my wedding reception (instead I opted for a red pair of flats which I'm sure will make their appearance during these 21 days). Now of course they are on clearance and are cheaper then when I bought them and also come in red and brown. (I was very tempted the other day to buy another pair, but I resisted somehow. I guess because I'm running out of closet space) I have a tendency to buy suede shoes and I'm always afraid they will get ruined if I wear them and by some chance it happens to rain while I'm out. But that could also happen to satin shoes.

On a different note this post will already top the number of times I blogged last year. That is pretty sad and I know I want to be a better blogger but sometimes I just don't feel like what I have to say will interest people. At least this challenge gives me a reason to post every day, it's kinda fun going to bed every night and trying to decide what shoes I will wear the next day and then of course deciding what clothes will match.

Day 3 - Booties

Today my shoe of choice was one that I received as a birthday gift for my 18th or 19th birthday. My mom bought them for me from Kohl's. (I picked them out) They are the Candies brand and when I first saw them I thought they were rocker-esque and that they'd look cute with a lot of outfits. I don't wear them as often as I thought I would because sometimes I think my feet look weird in them, but I'm weird about stuff like that. They are very easy to walk in and only slightly uncomfortable around the toe area.

I wore them with black sweater tights and a dress to work today and got some compliments on them :)
In other big news, today Hubby upgraded our TV from a 32 inch to a 46 inch. It's gonna be like watching at a movie theater now compared to before. So that will be fun to enjoy after he sets it all up.
Until tomorrow!

Day 2 - Fabulous flats!

Today was a wonderfully dreary day. Because of the weather I opted for some flats even though I should have worn my galoshes. But flats worked out okay, there weren't really deep puddles.

I picked up these leopard spotted flats at Target, probably in 2007 or 2008. I know I bought them because I thought the print was cute and I did not think about how difficult it is to match them with things. Unless you wear black with them. Black matches almost anything. I have no places of significance that I have worn these, at least not that I can remember. Just work or an ordinary outing.

On a non shoe related topic, yesterday I signed up to be on the waitlist for Birchbox. This makes me very excited and will give me lots of things to blog about when I started receiving my new products :)

Until tomorrow.

The 21 Day Shoe Challenge

I consider myself to be a shoe-aholic and often times I buy a pair of shoes for an outfit or just because I think they are cute and the outfit will come later. Then those beautiful shoes will sit in the closet, waiting for a chance to be shown to the world. I find myself wearing the same shoes every day. Even though I have boxes upon boxes, I am drawn to the same boring black pair or opt for my uggs when I'm not working. In the wintertime, I will admit it is more difficult to be daring with shoes on days with inclement weather. Having recently slipped off of icy stairs, I can tell you I am very glad I was wearing my flat boots that day instead of something fancier. With that all being said, I have challenged myself to wear a different pair of shoes every day for the next 21 days. And to keep myself accountable I will publish a record on my blog (and to help me remember what shoes I've already worn!) I did not count my shoes in advance so I'm not sure if 21 days of no repeats is even possible (I'm sure it is close to possible if it isn't). So here are my rules:
1. Every day wear a different pair of shoes out somewhere (i.e. I can repeat shoes as long as I've worn a different pair somewhere in public that day)
2. Blog and post pictures of shoes daily

And that's all I've come up with so far!
So today being the first day of the challenge and my feet feeling all refreshed and ready I decided to wear a pair of heels to work. I don't normally wear heels because I'm on my feet a lot and I like to save them for days when I'm not there a full day or I know I won't have to walk all over the place.

This blush colored pair of Lauren Conrad pumps were purchased at Kohl's sometime in the summer of 2012. I bought them for a bridal shower that I was helping host and blush was one of the bride's colors. Since that event, the other most notable place these babies have been was Atlantic City for the celebration of my best friend's 21st birthday. I love the soft suede feel of them and the pretty girly color. Today at work I paired them with gray pants and a white button down blouse.

The Biggest Loser

So for the past 6 weeks, Dan and I had a challenge to see who could lose more weight, but the winner was determined by pounds lost divided by the beginning weight. Yesterday the winner was crowned. . .and it wasn't me. (We were close, our final percentages were 3.85% and 3.64%) Even though I didn't technically win, I still feel good about losing almost 5 pounds and I'm proud of us for starting to lead a healthier lifestyle. I know we still have a lot more we could do to be healthier and it is definitely something I struggle with. I mean who doesn't love going out to eat and getting a nice big cheeseburger (the mac n cheese burger from the Cheesecake Factory comes to mind). I think we have been doing a lot better about not eating out so frequently and I have not been snacking as much (I miss my popcorn). I have been trying to add black beans and brown rice into our weekly meals and more whole wheat items (pasta, bread, tortillas, flour) instead of plain. One of our household favorite "healthier" meals is chicken salad sandwiches, but I make it with avocado instead of putting any mayonnaise in it. I also add some lemon juice, salt, pepper, and chili powder. I think it tastes really good and isn't loaded down with the heaviness of mayo. Our next goal is to start smaller challenges (without an end prize) to continue to track how we are doing. Now I just need to work more on the exercise portion of the healthier lifestyle.
